![]() Was about $400, used, which was more than I paidįor either of the MusicMasters. Have a Mustang RI, which is $600 new, and like allįender Japan RIs, is better than the original. ![]() I didn't really need the MusicMasters anymore cuz I $1400, so that kinda keeps a lid on the MusicMaster Version is the 70's Mustang Bass that runs $850 to I've seen online dealers listing them for about $600 One was stock and other was hot rodded [J-PU and In the past couple years I've traded off two of them. Just a crude 30 year old bass that happens to haveīeen made by Fender. The MusicMaster is not a valuable Vintage Bass. They just cut in one more cap leading from signal path And thaz all these Magic Boost Buttons do, Like a typical treble bleeder "tone control" but with noīoth GnL and Gibson have had "Bassīoost" buttons or The "tone" pot, but just anywhere along the signal path,Īnd such cap led to ground, thaz just an extra tone cap, If the MusicMaster had an additional cap, not directly on So-called "tone control" is just a volume control that is No cap involved, it's nonselective about the frequencies Same as creating an extra volume control, cuz thaz whatĪ volume pot does, it bleeds to ground thru a wire. Ground thru a jumper wire that bypasses the cap is the Some frequencies, thus it's a tone control. Ground SOME of the signal flowing along the path.īleeding to ground thru a cap will reduce only They are OUTSIDE the path, and their job is to bleed to Simply snipping off a cap makes a lotta sense, cuz capsĪre not in-line, thaz 2say they're NOT IN the signal path. The Quarterpounder seemed most popular.ĭoes your Ric now have an extra volume control ? Just choose the one that best fits your musical style. And there was alot of reccomendations for the Seymour Duncan,, SCPB series pickups. Anyway, I read that Aero Instrument Pickups,, makes the MusicMasterer 4, a pickup specifically designed as a replacement for the original Musicmaster pup and is specifically designed for bass. I think the pickup design is at fault and not the individual pickup." Well duh, it's basically just a strat guitar pickup. Its sound is a bit bland, its very susceptible to picking up 60 Hz hum, and has a rather weak output. "From what I've read (and experienced), the stock pickup isn't much to write home about. That is, if that is what you want to do.Īs I said, I couldn't find much about the actual mod, except for one comment that said, "without the mod the pickup was just muddy, but with the mod, you had a choice between bright and muddy." I did find that alot of people do talk about the poor pickup on the Musicmaster bass and the general concenus is the best fix is to go with a replacement pup. Night and day! Good luck friend and thank you for commentary"Īnyway, it appears that all you have to do is remove the blue cap from the circuit and your set. (I tried to make it a link, but it just kept automatically embeded the video) I am really hesitant about putting the link to the video here because, imo, it sounds awful, but I will post the link so you can read all the comments yourself. The only thing about the capacitor mod I could find was in the commentary of a Utube vid of a guying playing a bass with the mod. I did find a wiring diagram for you, but it isn't very good. I couldn't find much, but I hope this helps. I did some research and I got to tell ya.
